100 days: What’s Possible In A Quarter
One hundred days can feel endless and fleeting, long enough to start new habits, heal small wounds, and discover new things, yet short enough that every day can make a difference. Today marks 100 days since I broke my fifth metatarsal. My expectations were that I would be running by now. Instead, I’m still sleeping in a tall boot. I’m grateful I’ve been tracking my progress so I can celebrate how far I’ve come. Day 1 was spent crawling because I didn’t have crutches and couldn’t put weight on it!
Why 100 days?
A hundred days is roughly a quarter of a year or thirteen weeks to dive into a single focus or explore multiple paths of growth. Whether you're healing from setbacks, nurturing creative projects, or simply learning to find joy in unexpected places, 100 days provides a container for being patient with progress while still moving forward.
While the exact timeframe isn't magical, quarters provide natural rhythms for goal-setting. Transitions—like an injury, move, new relationship, or new project—can be perfect times to set goals and track progress.
So what can be accomplished in about 100 days?
In the past 100 days I've gone from crawling on the floor to walking on my own with a brace. I've read over 20 teen novels, nurtured plants from seeds to edible herbs, watched numerous K-dramas, made progress accepting what is, and started to make peace with previous injuries.
Transformations unfold in their own time. Some weeks bring visible progress, others test our resilience. The secret is to keep the goal in mind. I remember jobs where I barely remembered my yearly goals until a month before reviews - of course, that also speaks to several complicated goal-setting processes! A tracker becomes more than a productivity tool—it's a gentle accountability partner that helps us to celebrate small wins, acknowledge difficult days, and reminds us that growth isn't always linear.
As we transition from one quarter to the next, it's the perfect time to review your achievements, learn from the journey, and set intentions for what's ahead.
What will you choose to nurture in the next 100 days?
