Checking in on Q1 and Q2 goals
How are you doing on your 2026 intentions so far? We are at the end of Q1 and it's a good time to check in before we look ahead to Q2.
How well did you anticipate what would be possible in the first few months? Is there anything you want to celebrate, mourn, or change before Q2 begins?
My focus for Q1 was different than Q4, and I often felt that I wasn't getting as much done. When I checked in on what I planned, I was excited to see that I'm more on course than I thought. Checking in also helps me prioritize what I want to do in the next few days before Q1 closes.
One of my favorite employees told me during her interview that she never missed a deadline. I was immediately jealous. As someone with ADHD, missed deadlines have been a source of real shame for me. Then she explained: whenever something looked like it might not be completed on time, she communicated with everyone around her and reset the time frame. It sounded so simple. I realized I could do that too, and I already was. I just hadn't given myself credit for it yet.
It's okay to update your intentions, as long as you are honest with yourself about why and communicate changes with anyone who needs to know.
That's why this kind of check-in is useful. When we feel good about what we're doing, we tend to do more of it. Revisiting your intentions gives you a chance to update them before the gap between your plan and reality feels too big.
As I look at Q2, my intentions feel challenging but doable. I'm updating my expectations for how much I'll get done, and that adjustment feels honest.
How do your intentions look? What would make you feel more positive and motivated as we move into Q2?
