ADHD Awareness Month Resources
It’s ADHD Awareness Month, and time to check in on helpful resources.
What do you do when it feels like your mind has been overtaken by a scurry of squirrels?
Here are my top three things for managing my ADHD:
Accepting that my brain is going to work differently throughout the day/week/year.
Making wellness a priority - sleep, healthy foods, exercise, self-compassion
Humor - approaching as much as I can with levity, looking for the positive/humor
Here is my ADHD Resources Page with links to blog articles and book summaries.
Here are a few books that have helped me:
How to Keep House While Drowning: A Gentle Approach to Cleaning and Organizing by KC Davis, LPC (Apr 2022)
Your Brain's Not Broken: Strategies for Navigating Your Emotions and Life with ADHD by Tamara Rosier, PhD (Sept 2021) - loving this, great metaphors
ADHD is Awesome: A Guide To (Mostly) Thriving With ADHD by Penn Holderness and Kim Holderness (Apr 2024)
ADHD for Smart Ass Women: How to Fall in Love with Your Neurodivergent Brain, Tracy Otsuka (Dec 2023)
How to ADHD: An Insider's Guide to Working with Your Brain (Not Against It) by Jessica McCabe (Jan 2024)
Internal Family Systems Therapy Second Edition by Richard C. Schwartz and Martha Sweezy (Sep 2019 - Audible Jun 2024) - I find all of Schwartz’s books helpful to unpack and release shame (a work in progress!)
Time Anxiety: The Illusion of Urgency and a Better Way to Live by Chris Guillebeau (Apr 2025) - This made me a little anxious, and I’m going to summarize the main points in the coming month.
Kpop Demon Hunters (animated movie on Netflix) - Zoey’s demon says, “you’re too much and not enough” - yep, nailed it. I find it uplifting and enjoy thinking about what thoughts are really my demons talking.
Happy ADHD Awareness Month! Hope some of these resources are helpful for you, too!
