Thank you for your interest in the Activate Your Brain Team to Overcome Obstacles Session on 12 May 2025. For those who were able to attend, it was fun to hear about your Brain Characters!
Below is a summary, resources, future opportunities, and a link to the recording.
I'd love to keep in touch. Let me know if you would benefit from receiving my monthly newsletter with links to blog articles and intention-setting worksheets.
Warmly,
Dina

Session Overview
Goal: be at choice when encountering obstacles
One way to think about how our reactions to obstacles can change based on the situation and one's emotional state is to imagine which Brain Character or Characters are in charge.
Each Character has their own strengths and weaknesses.
Explore the characteristics of each of your characters and then meet with them to plan how to handle different situations
BRAIN Huddle: Breathe, Recognize (who is in control at the moment), Appreciate (their help and the other members of your team), Inquire (about a plan, need, motivation), and Navigate (situations together)
Four Brain Characters
Left vs. Right Hemisphere: The analytical left side versus the holistic right side
Thinking vs. Emotional: The cognitive versus emotional processing in each hemisphere
About The Four Characters/Brain Team
Character 1 (Left Thinking) - Analytical, judgmental, and focused on structure/order.
Character 2 (Left Emotional) - Rigid, cautious, critical, fear-based, and concerned with safety/survival.
Character 3 (Right Emotional) - Open, fearless, friendly, grateful, playful, and creative/innovative.
Character 4 (Right Thinking) - Holistic, compassionate, and open to possibilities.
By acknowledging, celebrating, and working with all the Characters in our Brain Team, we can learn to choose who we want to be and how we want to show up.
Fischer Temperament Inventory - created to study a link between temperament and brain physiology, originally as part of match-making.
My scores change depending on my mood and I like how it maps to my Brain Characters. Below is an example of one I just took. I’m always surprised when my Character 4 shows up strongly.
Curious/Energetic 38/43 - Character 3 (my explorer)
Cautious/Social Norm Compliant 21/43 - Character 2 (my protector)
Analytical/Tough-minded 39/43 - Character 1 (my planner)
Prosocial/Empathetic 37/43 - Character 4 (my connector)
